NATO welcomes Sweden and Finland

Brussels | NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said that Sweden and Finland’s request to join their military alliance will be welcomed by both sides.

If both countries decide to join NATO, the Western military alliance, the process will be completed soon. Both countries are expected to file applications by mid-May. Stolenberg added that Russia would provide protection against attempts to intimidate while considering the application.

In the wake of Russia’s occupation of Ukraine, the people of Sweden and Finland began to change their minds and join NATO.
