“In the coming days, NATO and Ukraine will sign an agreement on enhanced cyber cooperation, which, among other things, provides for Ukraine’s access to the NATO platform for the exchange of information on malware,” Stoltenberg said. He recalled that the North Atlantic Alliance has been cooperating with Ukraine for many years to strengthen its cybersecurity.

The European Union and the German government also announced that they would support Ukraine in this area. EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said at a meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies of the EU countries in French Brest that the EU will mobilize all means to support Kiev. In addition to technical assistance for Ukraine, an emergency meeting of the EU Committee on Politics and Security is scheduled.

Cyber ​​attack on Ukrainian government websites

On the night of January 15, unknown attackers attacked the websites of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and posted there an appeal to the citizens of the country with threats in Ukrainian, Russian and Polish. Although the attack came amid tensions between Russia and Ukraine, Kiev has yet to press charges against Moscow. At the same time, in Poland, officials pointed to Russia as a possible source of the attack.
