Last January, just before the start of the war in Ukraine, the United States became the world’s largest exporter of liquid natural gas. The United States, though an importer a few years ago, have overtaken Qatar and Australia thanks to their shale gas. The Russian invasion and the sanctions against Moscow only reinforced this American energy domination. And to reduce Russian purchases, Joe Biden plans to deliver more American gas to Europeans to reduce his dependence on Russian gas. David Thomson is our correspondent in Miami.
