At the solemn session of the Seimas, Nausėda took the oath of office and delivered the inaugural speech.

At the solemn meeting, the president put his hand on the constitution and swore “to be faithful to the Republic of Lithuania and the constitution, to conscientiously fulfill my duties and to be equally fair to everyone”.

Nausea also said the words “May God help you!”, although to respect the rights of non-believers, the oath-takers have the right to omit this line.

After the inauguration, a mass will be held in Vilnius Cathedral.

In the afternoon, Prime Minister Ingrīda Šimonīte will arrive at the Presidential Palace and lay down the government’s mandate. Usually, after the inauguration of the president, the prime minister retains his position, but changes in the composition of the government are possible.

In the evening, a reception will be held in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace in honor of the inauguration of the President for the second five-year term of office.

It has already been reported that in the second round of the presidential elections held on May 26, Nausėda won, receiving 74.25% of the votes. His rival was Šimonite from the conservative party “Fatherland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats”, who won 24.34% of the votes.
