Chilean Taekwondo Star Nayerlly Galdames Fuentes Advances to World Cup Competition in Italy
A rising star in Chilean Taekwondo, Nayerlly Galdames Fuentes, is continuing to represent La Calera and her nation with distinction at the XXIII ITF World Taekwon-Do Championship 2025, currently underway in Jesolo, Italy, from October 3rd to 13th.
Fuentes has already demonstrated exceptional skill and determination in the early stages of the competition, showcasing her talent, technique, and discipline against a diverse field of international opponents. Her journey doesn’t end there; she is slated to compete for the World Cup title this Saturday, aiming to further elevate the reputation of both her local community and Chile on the global stage.
“I am very happy and proud to be in Italy representing my country,” Fuentes stated. “It wasn’t easy to get here: it took weeks of training, effort, perseverance and dedication, but every day was worth it. Now we only have to face Uzbekistan and Iran, and I am ready to give my best.”
Fuentes is a key member of the Chilean team, which also includes athletes from La Cruz, Hijuelas, and Quillota. Her dedication and progress have been formally recognized with a Municipal Sports Scholarship, an award designed to support and inspire promising local athletes. This scholarship acknowledges the hard work and commitment required to achieve success in competitive sports.
