One of the most representative traditions of Holy Week in Venezuela is the procession of El Nazareno de San Pablo, an image of Jesus Christ with the cross dressed in purple, which takes place on Holy Wednesday.

In the San Antonio de Padua church in the city of Coro, the Catholic parishioners participated in the procession of El Nazareno that began at 3:30 in the afternoon.

As every year, the starting point of the procession was the temple located on Avenida Manaure de Coro; from where they toured Monzón streets, Las Flores alley and South street.

Meanwhile, other parishioners who, pay promise every year, walked barefoot carrying a cross and crown of thorns on their heads. They, for the most part, pay a promise to the Nazarene for having cured them of some disease.

Garment of the Nazarene

In Coro, the Trompiz family has been in charge, for 50 years, of dressing El Nazareno de San Pablo. This work is carried out with the help they receive from other families and companies that are in charge of making their donations to dress and decorate El Nazareno for the procession on Holy Wednesday.
