The Italian superpiuma champion: «At ringside and in the stands everyone greeted each other like this. It’s not normal. Michele Broili was kind to me “

“See i tattoos on the body of Broili praising the Nazism
it gave me disgust ». Words of Hassan Nourdine, Piedmontese from Asti but born in Morocco, which on Saturday 18 September won the Italian superpiuma title on points (with a not unanimous verdict).

A meeting in which unfortunately the challenge between the two contenders took a back seat because of the tattoos praising the Nazism (unacceptable) of the Trieste Michele Broili. «I was only there to box and, throughout the evening, I tried not to get distracted and be focused on the match. Of course, seeing the tattoos on Broili’s body praising Nazism gave me disgust – Nourdine reiterated – Plus both at ringside and in the stands they greeted each other with the Roman salute. For them it is normal, for me it is not. The climate was this. I want to clarify that Broili has always been very friendly with me, both before the match and after. In the post-meeting interview he complimented me on the victory. At ringside there were a few friends of mine besides my wife Fatima and my one year old son Anwar, my first fan. In any case, I hope that young people do not follow these ideals and they are at the forefront of fighting them so that gravity can be understood ». Nourdine has been a professional since 2015, but for 13 years he has been working as a worker in Asti. The day after the victory he worked the night shift: «I thought I had seen wrong, I didn’t want to believe it. Then we decided to focus on the meeting, we were there for that. At that moment it made no sense to start doing it controversy. In my opinion he is the classic naive who has distorted ideas of the world and humanity. But there is no justification. Those who have attended at least middle school know what Nazism did and even those who have not been able to attend know very well that what the holocaust was».

This generated scandal and controversy and – pending any criminal developments – the condemnation of the Italian Boxing Federation, and Monday 20 September begins the sporting process against the athlete which – underline sources of the federation – could lead to a disqualification.

Furthermore, Broili’s Nazi tattoos were already well known in the Italian boxing environment. In February 2020, a similar controversy broke out because a photo of the boxer was chosen for the Trieste Boxe Night, an event organized by the Ardita sports association (of which Broili is a part, an ASD founded and coached by the former regional secretary of Forza Nuova Denis Conte) with the patronage of the municipality of Trieste. To avoid controversy on that occasion Ardita had removed the image of Broili from the poster.
