The Memphis Grizzlies have signed free agent point guard Kobe Bufkin to a 10-day contract after receiving a hardship exemption. This move addresses the team’s guard depth issues due to injuries to Scotty Pippen Jr. (foot surgery), Ty Jerome (torn calf), Ja Morant (torn calf), and Javon Small (turf toe). Veteran Brandon Clarke is also recovering from offseason knee surgery.
Bufkin, selected 15th overall in the 2023 draft, has been plagued by injuries in his first two NBA seasons with the Atlanta Hawks. He missed time as a rookie due to a broken left thumb and a sprained foot, and underwent shoulder surgery in December 2024. The 22-year-old 6-foot-3 guard has appeared in 27 games for the Hawks, averaging 5.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 11.9 minutes per game.
