NBA Star Stephen Curry Makes Hole-in-One at Celebrity Golf Tournament

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry delighted fans on Saturday as he made a spectacular hole-in-one at the American Century Championship celebrity tournament. The four-time NBA champion achieved this remarkable feat on the 152-yard par-three seventh hole at Edgewood Tahoe.

The crowd erupted with cheers as Curry executed the shot flawlessly, sending the ball straight towards the flag. Ecstatic with his achievement, he ripped off his hat, raised a finger in the air, and sprinted towards the hole, celebrating like a victorious runner crossing the finish line.

Curry expressed his astonishment, stating, “That was wild. It was good contact, right at the stick, but even if you’re painting the flag and it looks good, you never really expect it to go in. I just saw a bunch of hands go up, and then you just kind of black out.”

This incredible hole-in-one contributed to Curry’s lead in the modified Stableford event, putting him three points ahead of NHL forward Joe Pavelski and former tennis player Mardy Fish. Under the scoring system, players earn one point for par, three points for birdie, and six points for an eagle. However, they are penalized two points for a double bogey or worse. Curry’s hole-in-one added a significant eight points to his score.

After completing his round with a total of 23 points, Curry maintained his position at the top. Fish, the tournament’s 2020 winner, scored 29 points, while Pavelski accumulated 24 points.

This was Curry’s second career hole-in-one and the fifth in the tournament’s history. He began playing golf at the age of 10 and disclosed in January that he has a handicap of +1.

Joe Pavelski, impressed by Curry’s achievement, remarked, “You see it land, and it just disappears. It was pretty cool. We were trying to get to Steph. He just kind of spins out of it and takes off. He’s got some good speed on him.”

Notable participants in the tournament included former LPGA Tour great Annika Sorenstam, who was tied for eighth place with 34 points. Defending champion and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, winning the tournament in 2018 and 2019 as well, was tied for 12th place with 32 points. Additionally, NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Super Bowl champion Pat Mahomes scored 32 and 57th place, respectively. NBA hall of famer Charles Barkley occupied the 81st position out of the 93-player field, with a score of minus-23.

Curry’s extraordinary hole-in-one undoubtedly created a buzz at the celebrity golf tournament, showcasing his exceptional skills beyond the basketball court.
