NBCUniversal: Late Night Hosts React to End of Actors’ Strike

by time news

The Hollywood actors strike has finally come to an end after a grueling 118-day effort. The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and the studios reached a tentative deal on Wednesday, reinvigorating the entertainment industry after a historically long work stoppage.

Late night hosts such as Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon wasted no time addressing the end of the strike during their monologues. Kimmel joked about the immediate impact on the Hallmark Channel, which began shooting all 1,200 of its Christmas movies as soon as the deal was approved. He also quipped that actors can finally get back to their “real jobs” of playing people with real jobs.

Judd Apatow and Sarah Silverman further discussed the strike on Thursday’s episode of “The Daily Show,” with Apatow joking about how he spent his time during the strike. He mentioned exercising, eating, and binge-watching shows, joking that the content was so bad that the actors didn’t deserve a raise.

Jimmy Fallon also addressed the strike during “The Tonight Show,” joking that his Friday guest list had changed to “everyone.” He also mentioned that the actors are back just in time, as the world may not be able to handle another reality dating show.

The end of the strike brings relief to the entertainment industry and allows actors to return to work. The deal signifies a new chapter for Hollywood after months of uncertainty and speculation.
