CHARLOTTESVILLE, Aug. 1 — The body of an 18-year-old North Carolina teenager believed to have gone missing a week ago while on vacation in Florida has been found, according to the family.
Giavanni Pelletier was last seen during a family vacation in the early morning hours of Friday, Aug. 1. A release from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office in Florida confirmed his disappearance.
Body Found Near Previous Discovery Site
The discovered body was found Friday. It was located near the southbound off-ramp of Interstate 75 and State Road 70. This is the same area where Giavanni’s backpack was previously found.
Authorities had initially searched this area on the first day of the investigation. However, the body was ultimately located by a private investigation group hired by Giavanni’s family.
Investigation Continues
Officials have stated there is no immediate evidence of foul play. A toxicology report and an autopsy are expected to be completed within the next six months as the investigation continues.
