Chennai: While the Meteorological Department has said that heavy rain is likely till the 10th due to Cyclone Mantos, Red Alert has been issued for Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Villupuram districts in Tamil Nadu. The weather forecast has given heavy rain here for two to two days, i.e. till 10th. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for 3 districts of Tamil Nadu as Cyclone Mandus approaches Tamil Nadu. Orange alert has been issued for the districts of Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur and Pudukottai.

Due to the weather, the Meteorological Department has warned that the state will experience heavy rains on December 9 and 10. The deep depression over the Southeast Bay of Bengal will gradually intensify into a storm and cross the coast of North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh and reach the Southwest Bay of Bengal.

Due to this low pressure zone, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas will receive heavy rain from December 8 to 10, according to the Meteorological Center officials. According to the Meteorological Department, the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, South Andhra Pradesh and North Sri Lanka are likely to experience winds of 40-50 kmph from December 8 and 60 kmph from December 8.
