The German economy is increasingly turning to artificial intelligence (AI). Currently, 27 percent of companies in Europe’s largest economy use this type of technology, up from 13.3 percent last year. This was reported by DPA, referring to data from the Ifo Economic Institute.

However, AI is not currently on the agenda for nearly 20 percent of companies, BTA reported.

“The trend will probably accelerate somewhat,” said Klaus Vollrabe, head of research at the Ifo Institute.

Companies expect AI to increase their productivity by more than 10 percent, he adds.

The number of companies using AI in their business processes has increased in almost all sectors – up to over 33 percent in automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals, textiles and clothing manufacturers. Among service providers, advertising companies and marketing research agencies, this is 72 percent, among IT service providers – nearly 60 percent. In retail, 22 percent use AI technologies, and in the construction sector – only 11.6 percent.

The most skeptics who currently do not see a possible application of AI are in construction (42 percent) and in the hotel and restaurant industry (40 percent).
