The Ministry of Youth and Sports approved the funds for the activities of the federations administering Olympic sports in the current year, which amount to BGN 42.991 million. Each headquarters will receive greater financial support from the state compared to 2023. It is carried out in line with : The Program for financial support of projects for Olympic preparation, the Program for financial support of projects for the development of sports for high achievements for Olympic sports and the Program for financial support of projects for personnel and scientific-methodical provision of sports federations for 2024.
The increase in funds for the federations under the Olympic preparation program is related to the upcoming participation of Bulgarian athletes at the Paris Games and the opportunities to win more Olympic quotas. BGN 27.355 million have been allocated under this program together with the accompanying one for personnel insurance.
According to the changes in the Olympic preparation program, 27% more monthly funds are provided for the training of the athletes with earned quotas, with the maximum amount reaching BGN 3,800 against the previous threshold of BGN 3,000. And in the improved accompanying program for staffing, a 15 percent increase is set of the remuneration of coaches and their teams. Specifically, for coaches, the maximum funding from the MMC reaches BGN 3,900 per month compared to BGN 3,400 before, the press center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports announced.
Under the program for the development of sports for high achievements in Olympic sports, together with staffing, another 15.635 million BGN has been allocated, with which the indicated total funding of 42.991 million BGN is obtained. The question of the financial support of the Bulgarian Weightlifting Federation will to be decided after clarifying the situation with their obligations.
An additional financial resource has been set aside, which will be distributed to the federations in cases of winning new Olympic quotas.
Tomorrow, the amounts determined for the Program for the financial support of projects for the development of sports for high achievements for non-Olympic sports will be announced together with the accompanying program for staffing.
