The only disappointment for England was losing the toss in the match. That frustration was overcome by their batting. Batting first, England lost opener Jason Roy, but were later joined at the crease by Phillips Salt and David Malan, who led England to a huge score.
Malan’s Sixes fell into a bush near the stadium as the English players broke through the crease. The Netherlands players also picked up the ball as ground staff searched for it in the woods. After a brief search, the ball was found. The Netherlands players returned to the field with the ball, shouting when they got the ball missing.
