jpnn.comJAKARTA – A total of 110 senators support Sultan Bachtiar Najamuddin so that he can be elected by acclamation as Chairman of the Indonesian Regional Representative Council (DPD) for the 2019-2024 period.
The declaration of support was made at the launch of a book entitled ‘Green Democracy‘ by Sultan Bachtiar Najamuddin at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, Friday (27/9).
DPD member Angelo Wake Kako said that hundreds of senators who supported the incumbent status were elected for the next period.
He said that the senators considered Sultan suitable to lead the DPD, because he could build synergy between their institutions and other institutions.
“DPD RI’s five-year journey to build partnerships has not been optimal. We need a figure who can build synergy, and that position is Mr Sultan,” said Angelo in his statement quoted on Saturday (28/9).
The senator from the Electoral District of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) said that nominations for DPD leadership in accordance with institutional regulations need to be submitted in a package system.
From there, Angelo offered several names for the DPD leadership package, namely Sultan Bachtiar Najamuddin, Yorrys Raweyai, Tamsil Linrung, and Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Hemas.
“This is an ideal package. Very Indonesian, representing women, Mr. Sultan, a group from the east, Bang Yoris, this is an extraordinary one,” he said.
Deputy Chairman of the DPD RI Sultan Bachtiar Najamuddin received support from 110 senators to be able to lead the same institution.
