Mumbai: Raj Kundra, the businessman and husband of film star Shilpa Shetty, who is accused in the blue film making case, has filed a plea in the court to exclude him from the case. Raj Kundra was arrested in July 2021 in the case of making a blue film and distributing it through mobile applications. He is now on bail.

Prashant Patil, Raj Kundra’s lawyer, filed an application to withdraw from the case on July 20. The petition pointed out that the police could not find any evidence that Raj Kundra had benefited financially or in any other way from the alleged crime. The court directed the prosecution to file its reply by September 8.

It is alleged that under the leadership of Raj Kundra, women were offered to act in web serials and acted in blue films. These movies were made available on mobile apps by charging a certain amount. Through this, Kundra earned crores of income during the lockdown.

Raj Kundra’s Vian Industries had a tie-up with Kenrin, a London company. Kenrin owns an app that spreads blue images. Although the company was registered in London, blue film production, app operation, accounting, etc. were done through Vian Industries.

They used to film obscene scenes by threatening young women who were aiming for movies and serials. Kundra’s former employee Umesh Kamath was earlier arrested in the incident. Actress Sagarika Shona had accused Umesh of forcing her to participate in the audition naked. Also, Sherlyn Chopra and Poonam Pandey came forward against Raj Kundra.
