BRUSSELS: India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra missed the Diamond League title by one centimeter and finished second for the second consecutive time with a throw of 87.86 meters in the season’s final. Two-time Olympic medalist Chopra, 26, won the trophy in 2022 and finished second last year. He threw the best throw in the third attempt but fell one centimeter behind winner Anderson Peters’ 87.87 meters.
Two-time world champion Peters of Grenada threw the best throw in the first attempt. Julian Weber of Germany finished third with a throw of 85.97 meters. Tokyo Olympic champion Chopra won the silver medal in the Paris Olympics last month. Neeraj Chopra threw a throw of 89.45 meters in Paris. However, this throw was not enough to win the gold. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal by throwing a record throw of 92.97 meters.
