THE Madrid Stock Exchange closed Wednesday’s trading 0.55% lower. The Ibex 35 loses 63.7 points and remains at 11,609.8 points. It has gained 14.92% so far this year.
The Spanish stock market maintained its level of 11,600 points thanks to the slight rise on Wall Street, which offset the decline in some large stocks and in the energy sector and concern about the war in the Middle East.
The decline in most energy companies and other large stocks as well as the war situation in the Middle East affected the results of the national stock markets today, despite the 0.2% rise on Wall Street at the close in Europe. The barrel of Brent oil fell by 0.72% at this time and was trading at $74.09.
As for the Ibex 35 heavyweights, they lose at the close Iberdrola (-1.94%); Telefonica (-1.09%); Inditex (-0.69%) e BBVA (-0.49%), while Banco Santander (+1.14%) and Repsol (+0.29%) win.
