Negotiations on an agreement on the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip and the establishment of a ceasefire in the enclave have entered a decisive stage; the next 24 hours will be extremely important for the deal.

As Day.Az reports, CNN reported this with reference to a source in the radical Palestinian movement Hamas.

“The picture will become clearer within 24 hours,” the TV channel quoted the source as saying. “The negotiators have a clear and strong intention to reach an understanding on the ceasefire, the beginning of the process of exchanging prisoners on both sides, as well as the delivery of food, medicine and goods.”

A consultative meeting between representatives of Egypt, the United States, Qatar and Israel is being held in Cairo on Tuesday. It discusses a possible agreement between the parties to the conflict in the Palestinian sector on the exchange of hostages in the hands of radicals in Gaza for Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli prisons, as well as the prospects for establishing a ceasefire in the enclave.
