Arezzo, 27 September 2024 – A few days after the release of the special celebratory box “Negrita Trenta”, Negrita have announced a new single entitled “There are no innocents my friend”. The song will be presented today, Friday 27 September at the Forum in Milan, on the occasion of the concert-event with which the group will celebrate its 30 years of music. «We will let you hear it at full volume for the first time live at our concert at the Unupol Forum in Milan! Ready?” writes the band from Arezzo on their social networks. «There are no innocents my friend» arrives six years after the last album, “Desert Yacht Club” (2018). The song, which was entirely written and composed on Easter 2024, presents itself as a criticism of the current world and its contradictions and represents Negrita’s desire to remain detached from the musical mainstream which “today trudges along, retreats, does not criticize . It prefers more comfortable, hedonistic, self-referential, stereotyped and courageous positions, often reducing itself to a banal soundtrack of a society that has chosen image and appearance above all else”.
With “Non Existence Innocents My Friend” Negrita reconfirm themselves and define themselves as “musical outsiders”, convinced to maintain their artistic identity and remain steadfast to their musical roots. The fruits of this belief will be contained in the next recording planned for 2025, a new album “with an undoubtedly folk flavor, reminiscent of Dylan”. To pass the time, the Arezzo band also shared a taste of the song on their Instagram profile. «This song was entirely written and composed on Easter 2024 but resurrections and saints have not been seen in the city – Negrita write – We live in increasingly complex, confused, violent and poisoned realities. Understanding has become difficult, finding the truth even impossible. The musical mainstream today trudges along, retreats and does not criticize. It prefers more comfortable, hedonistic, self-referential, stereotyped and courageous positions, often reducing itself to a banal soundtrack of a society that has chosen image and appearance above all else.” Negrita, drawing heavily on the solidity of their musical roots, want to distance themselves from this climate, react and go against the trend. The single is the first extract of a collection of folk songs, then developed in the atelier of an Italian RnR band. Negrita, 6 years after their last album, reposition themselves among the national musical outsiders, impervious to the fashions of this time by choice and conviction.
