Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has come up with an explanation for inviting Home Minister Amit Shah as the chief guest for the Nehru Trophy Boat Race. Amit Shah arrives for the Southern Zonal Council meeting. This time Kerala is chairing the council meeting. All those who come to the meeting are invited to play boat. The government also stated that the Chief Ministers of South India will also participate in the meeting.

A political controversy arose when Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan invited Amit Shah. Only a week left for the Olympics in Olaparap. All boats are undergoing intensive training. Meanwhile, a controversy arose over the chief guest. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan sent a letter inviting Amit Shah as the inaugural function on the 23rd. The South Regional Council meeting of the Inter State Council Secretariat will be held on the 3rd of next month in Kovalam. Amit Shah will also come to Kerala for the ceremony which will be attended by Chief Ministers of South India. In the letter, the Chief Minister requested to participate in boating after the meeting. But Leader of the Opposition VD Satheesan accused Amit Shah of inviting Amit Shah to inaugurate a race named after Nehru. Satheesan also asked the Chief Minister to clarify whether Lavalin or gold smuggling is behind this.

Meanwhile, AA Shukur, member of the Nehru Trophy Executive Committee and KPCC General Secretary, also came forward with a response. Shukur revealed that the meeting of the executive committee held two weeks ago had fixed the Chief Minister as the chief guest. VT Balram posted on Facebook comparing the Lavalin case and the invitation to Amit Shah. The post was captioned as natural.
