Neighborhood Improvement Program is now constitutional in CDMX

Starting tomorrow, September 12, the Neighborhood Improvement Program It will be recognized as a constitutional right in Mexico City, after its publication in the Official Gazette local.

In a ceremony at the Old City Hall, the Head of Government Marti Batres He stressed that the program allows for the maintenance of neighborhoods or colonies to rescue public space, with projects promoted by the residents themselves.

“They can do it themselves because the program is participatory, the resources… what’s more, the projects are presented by the people, the resources are given to them and the projects are executed directly by the people”he stressed.

In this regard, the capital’s leader explained that to date there are 155 neighborhood improvement projects in the City. “I hope that at some point there will be a program for each colony and neighborhood. Right now we have about 155, maybe we will add another bit, but there are 155 improvement projects and hopefully one day we will get to the point where each town, colony, and neighborhood has its own improvement program.”he shared.

Among some of these projects, he highlighted the rescue of the Plaza Giordano Bruno, which was occupied by immigrants. He also highlighted the rescue of the “El Momo” Fronton, in the town of San Juan Ixtayopan, in the Tláhuac municipality; in Xochimilco; and the reconstruction of streets in the La Cruz neighborhood, in Gustavo A. Madero.

Finally, the Head of Government celebrated that the incorporation of the program in the local Constitution guarantees its permanence, offers legal security and makes it a right of the communities.
