Neighbors demonstrate for the fourth day

The Benito Juárez mayor’s office of Mexico City remains mired in uncertainty and protest for the fourth consecutive day regarding the water contamination that affects its residents.

The inhabitants once again maintain a blockade on Insurgentes Sur avenueshowing their dissatisfaction with the lack of progress in solving the problem.

Despite the sustained dialogue between neighborhood representatives and the authorities, led by the head of the Mexico City Water System (Sacmex), Rafael Carmona, no significant progress has been achieved.

Those affected expressed their frustration by considering the responses received unsatisfactory, especially regarding the cistern cleaningwhich they consider a superficial patch given the magnitude of the problem.

The focus of the controversy centers on the Alfonso XIII wellwhere the presence of contaminants belonging to the family of Oils and lubricants.

Although the local government, in collaboration with federal authorities, continues its efforts to identify the origin of this substance, residents demand transparency in water analysis and a comprehensive support plan.

During the meeting, a neighbor presented alarming results from tests conducted in her home, which revealed the presence of organic contaminants derived from petroleum, raising concerns about possible public health risks.

The Head of Government, Martí Batres, has ensured exhaustive investigative work, including a thorough review of nearby infrastructure, such as the Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) pipeline and industrial establishments. However, so far no evidence of a fuel leak has been found, although tests are continuing to rule out this possibility.

Meanwhile, residents affected by this crisis continue to block important roads in the city, seeking to make their situation visible and press for a definitive solution.
