Deep Singh, Bahraich: In Maikupurva village of Mahsi tehsil, affected by wolves, children are also busy guarding with sticks in their hands. They have not been going to school for many days. Local resident Pramod said, how can we send children to school? The wolves are taking children away from their homes as well. The situation is the same in about 50 villages nearby. The number of children in schools has decreased considerably. There is silence in many. Not only schools, normal life has come to a standstill in these villages. Farmers are afraid to work in the fields, and those who work as laborers in far-off places have also sat at home to guard their families. Sushil Kumar, the head teacher at Primary School, Baggar, said that there are 211 children in his school. At present, only half are coming. He said that initially the wolves had attacked only here and the nearby villages. Then the children had stopped coming to school. Not even a single child was coming from the neighboring village Nepalpurva. Now the children have started coming again. The condition of schools in many villages including Maikupurva and Mangalpurva is similar. Pramod of Singhia Nasirpur used to work as a labourer in Haryana. Last month, a wolf took away his daughter. He then came to the village and now he is unable to muster the courage to go back to work. Many labourers in Jangalpurva and Loniyapurva are also sitting at home.
