On August 5, NEPLP received a letter from a competent state administrative authority, which states that the content distributed on the websites “ugoria.tv”, “riadagestan.ru”, “golosstepi.ru”, “фонд-братское-сердце.рф” contradicts the Latvian information policy. space and national security interests.

The Council conducted a review of the websites, finding that the said websites disseminated distorted and false information about the war in Ukraine and Russian actions in the occupied territories of Ukraine in support of the actions taken by Russia. The website also disseminates hateful information and information with the aim of promoting the justification of war crimes committed by Russia in Latvian society.

NEPLP points out that such information in the information space of Latvia can create a false impression of events in the world, negatively affect the coexistence of various social groups in Latvia and create a threat to the national security of Latvia.

At the same time, the council also evaluated a letter received on August 6 about the portals “irk.ru”, “vzsar.ru”, “radio1.ru”, “hibiny.ru”, “garant.ru”, “zebra-tv.ru”, in which stated that the content published on the websites supports and justifies Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the annexation of parts of Ukraine to Russia, as well as conforming to Russia’s aggressive war propaganda narrative.

NEPLP’s inspection found that the websites spread distorted and false information about events in the world, including the war in Ukraine, justifying Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the annexation of parts of Ukraine to Russia.

The same conclusions were reached by evaluating the content of the websites “nvsu.ru”, “zr.ru”, “mfcrd.ru”, “ndelo.ru”, “lezgigazet.ru” and “kamtoday.ru”, which a competent state administration the agency noted in the letter that they publish content that fits Russia’s aggressive war propaganda narrative.

Consequently, the council decided to restrict access to the aforementioned websites in Latvia, denying access to the domain names or Internet protocol addresses of these websites, as well as their duplicate mirror pages.

According to NEPLP decisions, merchants providing internet access services must immediately deny access to websites and their domain names, directing their users to the informative notice “nelegalssaturs.lv”.
