Nestlé Recalls Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bar Due to Potential Wood Fragment Contamination

Nestlé has issued a recall for its Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bar after it was discovered that the snacks may contain wood fragments. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall on Thursday, limiting it to two batches of the Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough “break and bake” Bar produced on April 24 and 25.

Although the FDA has not received any reports of illnesses or deaths related to the product, the decision to recall it was made “out of an abundance of caution.” The FDA revealed that they had received “a small number” of consumer calls regarding the potential presence of wood fragments.

The recall specifically applies to Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with batch codes 311457531K and 311557534K, with corresponding “best by” dates of 8/22/23 and 10/23/23. Nestlé advises consumers who have purchased the affected cookie dough bars to refrain from consuming the potentially contaminated dough. Instead, they should return the product to the store of purchase to receive a replacement or refund.

It is important to note that this recall only affects Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough “break and bake” bars and does not extend to other varieties of Nestlé Toll House refrigerated cookie dough in bars, rolls, tubs, or any other Nestlé Toll House product, including Edible cookie dough.

At the time of reporting, Nestlé had not responded to CBS MoneyWatch’s request for comment. Customers seeking more information can contact Nestlé USA directly at 1-800-681-1678.

This recall serves as a reminder for consumers to stay updated on product recalls and to always check product packaging for any potential hazards before consumption.
