Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said peace with Palestine is only possible with the “demilitarization and deradicalization of the Gaza Strip.” As Day.Az reports, in his opinion, expressed in an article published on the pages of the La Stampa newspaper, Israel is waging “a great battle of the civilized world against barbarism.”

“[Радикальное палестинское движение] Hamas must be destroyed. Gaza is demilitarized and Palestinian society must stop being radical. These are three conditions for peace between Israel and its Palestinian neighbors in Gaza,” he writes. The Israeli prime minister claims that Hamas has the support of Iran, while the US, UK, France, Germany and many other countries support Israel’s desire to “destroy this terrorist organization.” Netanyahu assures that international law will be respected in achieving this goal, although avoiding casualties is difficult because Hamas uses civilians as human shields.

The demilitarization of Gaza involves, as Netanyahu writes, the establishment of a temporary security zone along the entire perimeter of the strip, including on the border with Egypt, to prevent weapons smuggling. Netanyahu accuses the Palestinian National Authority of being unable and unwilling to help normalize the situation.

The Israeli prime minister considers the transformation of Palestinian civil society extremely important. “It should be aimed at fighting terrorism, not supporting it,” he emphasizes.
