“Netanyahu to Address Nation as Herzog Urges Halt to Legislation”

by time news

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, is set to deliver a national speech following overnight protests throughout the country in response to Defense Minister Yoav Galant’s firing and public opposition to the proposed reform of the judicial system. Protesters were evacuated from Ayalon after demonstrating for long hours, and the road remains blocked. Senior officials from Netanyahu’s Likud party are calling for the resignation of Levin, who they say has “brought us to the brink of war.” President Yitzhak Herzog has responded to the situation, urging the prime minister and government coalition members to halt the legislative process immediately for the sake of national unity, responsibility, and courage. Spontaneous demonstrations took place in various cities, including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, Rehovot, and Be’er Sheva, following the announcement of Galant’s dismissal after his warning of security risks from the proposed reform.
