Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will undergo surgery to insert a pacemaker, his office said in a statement this Sunday (23, Saturday night in Brasilia), a few days after being discharged from hospital due to health complications.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu will undergo a procedure to fit a pacemaker at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer this evening,” the press release added.

“The procedure will be carried out under sedation, during which Justice Minister and Acting Prime Minister Yariv Levin will take his place,” he added.

A week ago, Netanyahu, 73, was discharged from the same medical center after spending a night in hospital due to malaise and dizziness.

On that occasion, as part of the cardiological examinations, the center decided to use a Holter monitor to examine the prime minister’s heart rhythm, as explained last week by the head of cardiology at the Sheba Medical Center, Professor Amit Segev.
