Netflix Reveals Premiere Date for Final Season of ‘The Crown’ in Two Parts

Netflix has announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated sixth and final season of “The Crown,” but fans will have to wait a little longer to binge-watch the entire season. Instead, the streamer will split the season into two parts, with the first four episodes debuting on November 16th and the remaining six episodes following four weeks later on December 14th. This approach is similar to what Netflix has done with other popular shows like “Stranger Things,” “You,” and “The Witcher.”

To add to the excitement, Netflix released a short teaser for the final season, offering a glimpse into the life of Queen Elizabeth II. The teaser reflects on the portrayal of Queen Elizabeth by Claire Foy and Olivia Colman in previous seasons before introducing Imelda Staunton as the current incarnation of the British monarch. The teaser features a voiceover from Colman stating that being queen is a duty, to which Staunton’s voice questions the life she left behind.

The sixth season of “The Crown” will cover the years 1997 to 2005. Part one will delve into the relationship between Princess Diana, played by Elizabeth Debicki, and Dodi Fayed, portrayed by Khalid Abdalla. It will also portray the tragic car crash in Paris in 1997 that claimed their lives. Part two will shift the focus to the wedding of Prince Charles, played by Dominic West, and Camilla Parker Bowles, played by Olivia Williams. Additionally, it will explore the lives of Charles’ sons, William and Harry.

Executive producer Suzanne Mackie expressed her pride in the final season, stating that it showcases some of their best work. She also hinted at a beautiful and profound ending, teasing a culmination of the journey viewers have been on for several seasons. “The Crown” has been immensely successful, winning 21 Emmy Awards over its previous five seasons, including the prestigious Best Drama Series trophy for its fourth season. The series was created by Peter Morgan and executive produced by a talented team including Mackie, Andy Harries, Stephen Daldry, Matthew Byam Shaw, and Robert Fox.

Fans of “The Crown” will have to mark their calendars for November 16th for the first part of the final season, followed by the second part on December 14th. In the meantime, they can enjoy the teaser released by Netflix, which hints at the intriguing and captivating storyline that awaits them.
