In this regard, the Riyadh-based Saudi media regulator and the Gulf Cooperation Council issued a joint statement saying, “These scenes violate the principles and values of Islam and society. We have contacted Netflix and asked them to remove the children’s shows. Following a complaint, regional authorities will monitor whether the site is complying with the directives.
Necessary legal action will be taken if the footage requested for removal continues to be aired,” it said.
In addition to this incident, the Saudi government-run Al-Eqbariya news channel said, “It is condemnable to have scenes promoting homosexuality in children’s movies and series offered by Netflix.”
The six countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council are Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
