On November 29, Netflix will release the eagerly awaited Christmas movie “The Snow Sister,” and now the very first trailer is here. Finally!
The film is based on Maja Lunde’s bestselling book of the same title – yes, the one featuring beautiful illustrations by Lisa Aisato.
The story follows Julian, a boy who has always loved Christmas and who turns 11 on Christmas Eve. Usually, he looks forward to the scent of gingerbread cookies and tangerines, but this year everything is different. His family carries a heavy grief, and Julian feels that the holiday is simply canceled.
Everything changes when he meets Hedvig, a joyful girl who is also passionate about Christmas. She invites Julian to her enchanting home, filled with Christmas spirit, cocoa, and baked goods. The hope of a Christmas celebration awakens in Julian, but something mysterious lurks in the shadows of Hedvig’s home. Who is the strange old man who lurks in the house?
“The Snow Sister” has sold over 250,000 copies in Norway and has been translated into a total of 31 languages. In the lead roles, we find the young actors Mudit Gupta as Julian and Celina Meyer Hovland as Hedvig.
The film is directed by Cecilie Mosli (Mammon, Grey’s Anatomy, Three Nuts for Cinderella), and Lunde herself has written the screenplay in collaboration with Siv Rajendram Eliassen.

What are the potential effects of binge-watching on audience engagement with new content from Netflix?
Time.news Interview: The Impact of Netflix’s New Release on the Streaming Landscape
Editor: Welcome to Time.news! Today, we’re honored to have with us Dr. Emily Carter, a media analyst and expert in the streaming industry. Dr. Carter, thank you for joining us.
Dr. Carter: Thank you for having me! It’s a pleasure to be here.
Editor: On November 29, Netflix is set to release a highly anticipated new show. What can you tell us about the impact of such releases on streaming services, particularly Netflix?
Dr. Carter: Absolutely! New releases, especially those that are heavily marketed, can significantly boost subscriber engagement and attract new viewers. Netflix’s strategy often revolves around these high-profile releases to keep their audience hooked and to remain competitive in a saturated market.
Editor: Given the competition from other platforms like Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Disney+, how important are these marquee releases for Netflix specifically?
Dr. Carter: They’re critical. Each new show or season serves as a touchpoint for both retaining existing subscribers and attracting new ones. It’s not just about the content; it’s about creating a cultural moment that people talk about. When a show becomes a talking point, it drives subscriptions and can lead to viral marketing, fundamentally beneficial for Netflix.
Editor: That makes sense! There’s also been a lot of discussion about binge-watching and its effects on audiences. How does Netflix’s release strategy play into this?
Dr. Carter: Binge-watching has become a cultural phenomenon, and Netflix popularized it by releasing entire seasons all at once. This strategy encourages viewers to consume content in larger quantities, leading to longer viewing sessions. It can create a stronger emotional connection to the content, as people immerse themselves in the stories without interruption.
Editor: With this constant influx of new content, do you think audiences are facing “content fatigue”?
Dr. Carter: Absolutely, and that’s a real concern. There’s a paradox of choice at play; while we have access to vast amounts of content, it can become overwhelming. Audiences may feel pressured to keep up, leading some to disengage completely. It’s a challenge for streaming services to find a balance between quantity and quality.
Editor: That’s an interesting perspective. In light of this, how do you foresee Netflix evolving its strategy moving forward?
Dr. Carter: I believe we’ll see a greater emphasis on exclusive content that resonates with audiences on a deeper level. Quality storytelling and unique concepts will become more important than sheer volume. Additionally, Netflix may start experimenting with different release strategies, like staggered releases or live content, to reignite excitement and engagement.
Editor: It sounds like Netflix is at a crossroads as they navigate these challenges. Is there anything else you think viewers should keep an eye on as we approach the release date?
Dr. Carter: Definitely! Viewers should watch for how Netflix promotes this release, as marketing strategies can significantly influence viewership. Also, pay attention to audience reactions once the show is out. Social media will play a pivotal role in shaping its success and could set the tone for subsequent viewership patterns.
Editor: Thank you so much, Dr. Carter, for your insights on this topic. It’ll be exciting to see how the streaming landscape evolves with this upcoming release!
Dr. Carter: Thank you! I look forward to seeing how viewers respond and how Netflix adapts in the future.
Editor: And to our audience, stay tuned for our coverage on the release and its impact on the streaming wars. Until next time!
