Netflix debuted the action drama Rebel Ridge this Friday (6), starring Aaron Pierre (Time) and Don Johnson (Watchmen). The film boasts an impressive 93% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the best-reviewed films of 2024.
In the storyline, Terry Richmond (Aaron Pierre) arrives in Shelby Springs with a simple but urgent mission: to bail out his cousin and save him from danger. However, after Terry’s savings are unjustly confiscated, he must confront Sheriff Sandy Burnne (Don Johnson) and his aggressive officers.
Terry receives unexpected help from court officer Summer McBride (AnnaSophia Robb), and the two become embroiled in a conspiracy that takes over the town. Taking increasingly dangerous risks, Terry must draw on his mysterious past to free the community from police oppression, seek justice for his family, and protect Summer.
Rebel Ridge is described as “a dynamic and very human thriller that examines corruption and morality, always with plenty of action, tension, and twists.” It is directed by Jeremy Saulnier, known for films like Green Room and Night of Wolves.
