Xinhua news agency reported that The Dutch National Institute of Public Health and Environment (RIVM) has announced that the number of monkey pox cases in the Netherlands has risen to six.

The Netherlands reported its first case of monkeypox on Friday (May 20) by the Institute and the Erasmus University Medical Center. New samples are being analyzed to ensure rapid detection of new patients. and reduce the likelihood of further spreading

The institute said some patients had a history of attending the Darkland Festival in Belgium. All of the patients were males who had sex with men. But this does not indicate that the virus can only be transmitted through sex. or unable to infect other groups of people

The institute urges people with a history of close skin contact with chickenpox patients to self-isolate, such as sex partners or people living together. Vaccinations are offered at the Municipal Health Service (GGD) only to people at high risk of infection.
