“In a multi-stage special operation, nine Russian agents were simultaneously detained in Dnipro, Zaporizhia and Sumy, as well as in Donetsk, Odesa and Kirovohrad regions,” the statement said.
The agents determined the coordinates so that Russia could carry out strikes on the Armed Forces of Ukraine and important infrastructure facilities.
“There were two officials in the enemy group. One of them is an official of the Dnipro City Council, the other is the head of the Department of the Southern City Council of the Odesa Region. They identified the locations of the anti-aircraft defense force and the most important electrical substations in order to correct the Russian shelling throughout the territory of both regions. Two more agents carried out intelligence on the locations of fortified areas and heavy artillery fire positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Pokrovsk and Chasivyar. Their co-intelligencer collected information on the concentration of defenders’ personnel and military equipment in Kurakhov, Donetsk region,” the statement said.
Among the Russian agents were two managers and a university student who recorded the movement of army echelons, as well as a former employee of the disbanded militia who passed on information to the occupiers about the consequences of a Russian attack on one of Ukraine’s hydroelectric plants.
“The defendants came to the attention of the FSB as active commentators in the chats of pro-Kremlin Telegram channels. After remote recruitment, the traitors contacted their Russian curator using anonymous chatbots in the popular messaging program,” the SBU said.
The SBU investigators informed the detainees that they were suspected of treason committed under martial law.
The miscreants are in custody.
