Regarding the possible closure of the work of neurosurgeons at Santa Casa from June 5, the hospital sent a note informing that it waits until next week for an agreement to be reached and for that, it has the support of Sesau (Municipal Health Department) and SES ( Secretary of State for Health).

“This whole situation has been continually notified to the public health authorities, and support is being negotiated with the state and municipal health departments to resolve the impasse”, adding that “we hope to resolve this impasse in harmony with SES and Sesau see you next week”.

Note also reveals that the main dissatisfaction of professionals is financial. Neither the hospital nor the doctors’ lawyer, Leandro Mendes, revealed the amounts currently paid or requested. According to the professionals, the remuneration is not attractive, which “causes a low interest in the service, resulting in an insufficient number of professionals for all the services”.

The statement from Santa Casa also lists that the current payment is made up of the fixed amount per hour-on-duty plus surgical productivity.

“And we clarified during the negotiation that any additional amount could lead to a lack of coverage in other areas” and thus, “the amount demanded by the group of neurosurgeons is far from our reality, since we need to maintain such a challenging balance”.

Compliance with the law – the hospital also relies on the law so that neurosurgeons do not paralyze services once and for all. Resolution of the CRM (Regional Council of Medicine) says that every claim movement must be duly legal, and done without causing greater damage to assistance.

“That is, Urgency and Emergency services must continue, and 30% of the staff must be available to meet the other demands, without implying a reduction in the quality of the service that is provided”.

The hospital also says that it has applied new work methodologies, making other doctors available to help with prescriptions and patient evaluations, in addition to the acquisition of materials and equipment.
