Neutrino deposit discovered for the first time – MK

by time news

Astrophysicists have discovered a neutrino deposit for the first time. With the help of a specialized observatory, experts managed to prove that these particles are born in blazars – the cores of galaxies. Scientists from the Universities of Würzburg and Geneva published their findings in The Astrophysical Journal Letters.

Until now, the exact origin of the neutrino has remained in question. The IceCube neutrino observatory in Antarctica came to the aid of astrophysicists. There, scientists created a program that evaluates the relationship between neutrinos and blazars. The results showed that the astrophysicists’ assumptions were correct.

It is worth adding that blazars are not simple galactic nuclei. They get energy from black holes.
