‘Never forget this’; Sunil Gavaskar’s warning to the Indian team ahead of the ODI World Cup

India will host the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup. From October 5 to November 19, there will be 48 matches across 12 venues, according to reports.

Ten teams will play. The final match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19. However, former batting legend Sunil Gavaskar is warning India not to forget the defeat against the Australian team in the third ODI. India lost the series by 21 runs in the crucial match.

The Aussies won the toss and batted and were bowled out for 269 runs in 49 overs. However, India’s reply batting ended at 248 in 49.1 overs. After losing the first match of the series by five wickets, the Aussies fought back strongly in the next two matches.

“A lot of pressure was created. Couldn’t even get a single. No boundaries were scored and no singles were scored. Then naturally we will be afraid of unfamiliar shots and so on. That’s what they were looking for. But of course the IPL is starting now. Never forget this. “India may forget this sometimes, but it should never, because we may face Australia again in the World Cup,” Gavaskar said.

It was the first time in four years that India lost a series at home. Before this, India lost the ODI series against Australia in March 2019. When the score is trailing around 270 or 300, you should build partnerships between 90 and 100, which will bring you closer to victory. But that didn’t happen, Gavaskar added.
