The Central Bank will introduce a new banknote with a face value of 100 rubles. in the near future, said Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Mikhail Alekseev at a meeting of the club of economic and business journalism and the base department of the Bank of Russia of the National Research University Higher School of Economics.
“When a significant event happens, and one of these events will happen very soon, I think that in the coming months, maybe even weeks, there will be a press conference where a new banknote will be presented,” said Mr. Alekseev (quoted by TASS) .
Mikhail Alekseev said in November 2021 that the Central Bank would put into circulation a new hundred-ruble note by the end of 2022. In May of the same year, Mr. Alekseev said that the new banknote would use embossed marks for blind people and large contrasting numbers and inscriptions.
At the beginning of 2021, the Central Bank announced the modernization of denominations of 10, 50, 100, 500, 1 thousand and 5 thousand rubles by 2025.
