125 new agreements with an approximate value of BGN 312.5 million under the Investment Program for Municipal Facilities were signed in the past few days by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Eng. Violeta Koritarova, with mayors and representatives of the local administration of 33 municipalities. Financing for their implementation is received by: Burgas, Karnobat, Nesebar, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Lyaskovets, Svishtov, Byala Slatina, Gabrovo, Bobov Dol, Varshets, Velingrad, Pazardzhik, Breznik, Dolni Dabnik, Kaloyanovo, Karlovo, Krichim, Ruse, Silistra, Sliven, Banite, Godech, Gurkovo, Chirpan, Antonovo, Svilengrad, Haskovo, Kaspichan, Shumen, Samokov, Hitrino and Blagoevgrad, reported the press center of the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.
About two-thirds of these 125 agreements are for the modernization of plumbing infrastructure for nearly BGN 42 million.
At the moment, MRRD concludes agreements with priority for the projects related to water and sanitation infrastructure, Minister Koritarova said during the signing. She appeals to the representatives of the local government to prioritize the implementation of the water supply facilities. And he emphasized that they need to be coordinated with the water supply operators so that these projects can be jointly built, rehabilitated and upgraded, so that there is no duplication and there is predictability in the rehabilitation of the water infrastructure.
Minister Koritarova also pointed out that in times of climate change, the water problem is comprehensive and we must all find a solution together and everyone must take their responsibility for this solution so that it does not affect the delivery of the drinking water supply service water. She called for more solidarity towards the settlements where there is a water supply regime, as well as for the imposition of sanctions by local authorities in cases of unregulated drinking water for filling pools, irrigation and other similar activities.
The total value of the agreements signed since the beginning of the program already exceeds BGN 3 billion. At the moment, the funds paid to the municipalities under it are in the amount of BGN 146.5 million.
