“This new 20 DH note, which completes the new series of Moroccan banknotes and coins, highlights the efforts made under the aegis of HM King Mohammed VI for the preservation of the architectural heritage and the socio-cultural development of Morocco, through a theme that revolves around culture, art, youth and sport,” Mr. Regraga stressed in a statement to the press.

This theme, he continued, was translated by graphic representations of the Grand Theatre of Rabat, the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMVI), a stand of a sports complex as well as a stylized view of the Kasbah of Aït-Ben-Haddou, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Designed and produced entirely by the Moroccan skills of Dar As-Sikkah, just like the 200, 100 and 50 DH notes of this new series, the 20 DH note is equipped with the most modern security elements, including a new color-changing security thread with dynamic effect, relief patterns perceptible to the visually impaired, as well as an iridescent strip on the back of the note, he noted.

Bank Al Maghrib proceeded, on Wednesday, to the putting into circulation of the new 20 DH note. The front of this note features the portrait of HM King Mohammed VI, the Coat of Arms of the Kingdom as well as an architectural motif inspired by Moroccan doors and a stylized view of the Al Qaraouiyine University of Fez.

The back of the note contains artistic representations of the Grand Theatre of Rabat, the MMVI and a grandstand of a sports complex as well as a stylized view of the Kasbah of Aït-Ben-Haddou.
