The delegation of the Port of Algeciras has met in a working meeting with managers from Aragón Logistics Platform, Rail & Truck, and Adif to monitor the status of the work carried out by Adif to adapt the Algeciras-Zaragoza line to the future railway highway.

In this follow-up meeting, the evolution of Adif’s construction projects, which are being finalized, to adapt gauges and overpasses to the needs of railway compositions, was reported. For its part, the Algeciras Port Authority explained the details of the different actions in which it is working both in the area and in the last mile to give a boost to rail traffic. To this end, it has approved several investments totaling 73 million euros for the period 2023-2027 (see news).
Among other actions, in that last mile, the construction of a technical installation and the doubling of the track from that point to the port area are planned. Regarding the plans inside the port, work is being done on the drafting of the construction project for the expansion of the Isla Verde Exterior railway port terminal, which after twelve years of operation exceeded for the first time in 2022 the thousand trains operated in a single operation. exercise. In addition, the improvement of signaling at intersections inside the enclosure will be put out to tender. The electrification of the 736 kilometer Ronda-Bobadilla stretch was also discussed at this meeting.
