CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Cincinnati is set to welcome another football team to its city, as the Arena Football League (AFL) announced its 16 team locations for the 2024 season.

While the league did not provide specific details about where in Ohio the team will play, two reports suggest that Cincinnati will be the home market for the AFL’s Ohio team. According to a tweet by Jake Russell with the Washington Post, Cincinnati will serve as the base for the Ohio team. TMZ Sports also claims that Cincinnati will be the chosen city.

Although the location of the Cincinnati team’s games is still unknown, it is an exciting development for the city’s football enthusiasts. It is worth noting that the AFL previously had a team in Cincinnati called the Cincinnati Rockers, which played from 1992 to 1993 before folding.

The AFL, founded in 1987, temporarily suspended operations in 2009 due to financial difficulties. However, the league had a successful initial run with nationally televised games and prominent figures such as Jon Bon Jovie, who owned the Philadelphia franchise. Additionally, the AFL is known as the professional league where Hall of Famer Kurt Warner played before transitioning to the NFL.

As Cincinnati prepares to welcome the AFL’s Ohio team, sports fans are eagerly awaiting further details about the upcoming season and the team’s activities. Stay tuned for updates on the progress of this exciting development in the city’s sports scene.
