The web series Por Dentro da Cena exposes the creative and technical work of actors, directors, screenwriters and film crews

How are those cinematic scenes that make us die laughing or crying? To answer this question, the International Cinema Academy (AIC) is launching the web series Por Dentro da Cena on its YouTube channel AICinematic, which works as a “reality cinema”. The 17-episode program will be broadcast free of charge on YouTube for students, critics and the curious. Each episode will tell the secrets and techniques used by the team involved in dramaturgy and production to make the magic happen. The premiere is scheduled for October 24th, at 11am, on the channel AICinematic.

First season

The first season, which will be shown every Tuesday and Thursday at 11am, starting on October 24th, on the AICinematic channel, will feature the participation of editor Giuliano Gerbasi, a former member of the KondZilla channel’s editing team. , by the screenwriter Paulo Marcelo do Vale, whose scripts include the biopic of judo athlete Max Trombini, Dicezar Leandro, art director on the award-winning A Felicidade das Ciências, Helen and Oração do Amor Selvagem, Camila Cattai, director of photography who won the Funarte 2021 award for best dramaturgy in the State of São Paulo and Antonio Vanfill, graduated from the School of Dramatic Art at the University of São Paulo (ECA/USP), with award-winning work as an actor and director. They are all AIC professors.

The five professionals invited to the web series will show how each area involved in a scene – such as direction, script, art direction, photography direction, and editing – works to make the “fictional” a reality in the eyes of the viewer. viewer. The series will also show behind-the-scenes without filter: recording errors, angles, preparation and, of course, the team’s fun. At the end, the audience will be able to see the result of the scene they followed closely and the making of.

“The spectator will be able to feel part of it and realize how many things are necessary to make cinema. To solve problems that we ourselves invent, in a way, and those that arise technically. It’s very cool and very alive. It really is a reality”, says Vanfill.

The first scene that will open the doors to the web series will be a dramedy, a genre that mixes humor and dramatic scenes to deal with deep subjects. The creators will reveal details of the plot during the program’s broadcast, to generate expectation from the public, who will be able to evaluate, in the final scene, whether the team’s performance was satisfactory.

The project was created by Steven Richter, founding director of AIC, and inspired by North American programs that demystify the art of cinema. Among the main references are the talk show Inside the Actors Studio, led by James Lipton and which has hosted big names in cinema such as Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Michelle Pfeiffer and others, and the reality show Project Greenlight, produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who gives participants production challenges. Por Dentro da Cena has its own format, which combines, at the same time, education and entertainment.

“It is a gift from AIC, from the filmmakers who worked on this project, both our teachers and students, to people who want to know how a film is made. It is an invitation not only to watch the production process, from the classroom to the set, but also to inform the realization of your own projects, based on the principles that are being introduced”, says Richter.

Partners

The new program has the support of companies Use it e Gullane in the location of sets and props, and Locall, Elite e Next Move in the rental of audio and video equipment.
