CHENNAI: Following the speech held by the three ministers, the villagers of Ekanapuram have said that they will temporarily abandon the walk that was scheduled to begin tomorrow in protest against the construction of Paranthur airport.

A total of 13 revenue villages, including 6 in Kanchipuram taluk and 6 in Sriperumbudur, are to be acquired for setting up the airport.

In it, the farmers of Ekanapuram village protested against the acquisition of land. Ministers Velu, Thangam Thennarasu and Anbarasan held talks with the farmers from that village at the Chief Secretariat yesterday.

The chief minister is determined that no one should suffer. For that reason, the Chief Minister has ordered to create employment for livelihood and provide three and a half times more compensation than the market value’, said the ministers.

They also assured that the chief minister would take the demand of the people of Ekanapuram into consideration. Accepting it, the villagers of Ekanapuram promised to temporarily abandon the walk that was to be held tomorrow.
