Bangladeshi and American government officials, US government exchange program alumni, educators, students and locals gathered to celebrate the opening of this vibrant learning center.
At the opening ceremony, the Public Affairs Counselor of the US Embassy said, “I am very proud to inaugurate the American Corner in Sylhet. It will serve as a hub that will enhance connections to the educational and cultural resources of the United States and create lasting intercultural experiences for students and faculty.”
“This American space will strengthen our connection with local youth, educators and young changemakers who are dedicated to making positive contributions to their communities,” he added.
American Corners are part of a global network of cultural and facts centers run in collaboration with local organizations. Thes centers provide free open information resources, promote study in america and scholarship program opportunities, support English language teachers and students, connect with US exchange program alumni, and organize various activities to enhance cultural understanding between the US and Bangladesh. These centers also empower youth to tackle local and global challenges.
