According to South Korean publication The Elec, Samsung is preparing to join the OLED display supply chain for future MacBook models.

As Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru, in recent years there have been rumors that Apple plans to replace the LCD displays of its MacBook Pro and MacBook Air laptops with OLED displays.

A report from The Elec states that Samsung is currently preparing a production line for eighth-generation OLED panels, which will be used mainly to produce screens for future Apple laptops.

The Elec adds that panels from this production line will not be used in new MacBook models until 2027.

In turn, the Chinese publication ITHome writes that Apple plans to introduce OLED displays in nine new devices by 2027, starting with two new iPad Pro models in March 2024. According to ITHome forecasts, the first MacBook with OLED will be released in 2026.

The benefits of OLED displays include higher brightness and contrast, better color accuracy and lower power consumption. OLED panels are also thinner and lighter than LCD screens. Apple already uses OLED on all iPhone and Apple Watch models except the iPhone SE.
