BOLZANO. The provincial councilor for public construction, Christian Bianchisigned the guarantee guaranteeing decree on 19 December 2024 the start of the expropriation procedure of the former Enel area in Bolzanothe first fundamental step in the process for the creation of the new archaeological museum of South Tyrol. “This is a very significant step, which follows the council’s decision and allows us to accelerate the design activity of the new Ötzi museum on the former Enel area of ​​Bolzano”Bianchi underlined.

At the end of November, the executive, in addition to confirming the decision to build the new museum headquarters, had decided to agree on the financing proposal through the use of a real estate fund for the valorization and sale of provincial real estate, no longer of institutional interest. The real estate investment fund will be made up partly of external investors and financiers and partly from the sale of some provincial properties, including Villa Deluegg (Renon), the current headquarters of Ötzi, the Plaza building (via del Ronco a Bolzano) and the Warehouse via Resia (Piazza Nikolaus Firmian in Bolzano). An alternative location will also be provided for all the properties in question. The estimation procedures foreseen in the expropriation procedure will be started by January 2025, a fundamental step for completing the process. In total, approximately 98 million euros will be allocated to the project.
