Title: New Cafe in Gothenburg’s Brunnsparken Seeks Tenant

February 12, 2021

After the completion of the refurbishment of Brunnsparken in February 2020, plans for a new cafe in the park have been finalized. The cafe building, named “Rödmönja” and designed by Högberg Gillner Arkitektkontor AB, was chosen as the winner of an architecture competition that received over 100 entries. The design was inspired by historic buildings that once stood in Brunnsparken, according to the architects.

However, the city of Gothenburg has not yet selected a tenant for the new cafe, which is expected to open next spring. The process of finding a tenant will continue until the summer, giving interested parties ample time to submit their applications.

Interested applicants should note that there are certain requirements for the business. The cafe is expected to have generous opening hours and operate throughout the year. The indoor area spans 24 square meters and includes a simpler kitchen without a stove. Additionally, there is an outdoor dining area of 65 square meters.

Considering the prime location of the cafe, the rent will be calculated as eight percent of the business’s turnover. The minimum rent set by the city is SEK 22,500 per month.

Several potential tenants have already expressed interest in the new cafe. Jafaris Donuts, a previous tenant in Brunnsparken that was forced to move due to the renovations, has submitted an expression of interest. Another potential applicant is Eva Olsson, a well-known cafe owner with successful establishments such as Fröken Olsson, Evas Paley, and the Condeco chain.

As the search for a tenant continues, the city of Gothenburg anticipates attracting a high-profile cafe to Brunnsparken, adding to the vibrancy and appeal of the park.
